A film inspired by the work of psychiatrist R.D. Lang and his controversial KINGSLEY HALL project of non-medicated housing for the mentally ill. Two former psychiatric patients discharged from a hospital (Captain Jamaica and Ernie) share an apartment together with hopes of mental recovery without adhering to any type of medication treatment. As both men begin to decompensate into extreme psychosis, they express their need for romantic companionship in the form of planning an abduction of a gorilla named BONGO from the Bronx Zoo. A love triangle is formed, and the fight for BONGO's love ensues.
